Best waffles in Bruges
When you think of Bruges you think of fries, chocolate, beer, and of course the good waffles! Street after street you will find restaurants where you can eat waffles. Do you like a simple topping like sugar or do you prefer a banana split, there’s something for everyone here! But what are our favorite waffle spots? We list them below so that you know immediately where you can find the most delicious waffles in Bruges.
Waffles ‘n Beer workshop
Ready to roll up your sleeves and make your own delicious waffles? In this workshop, you will learn from a real professional how to make the best waffles in Bruges. Before the workshop you’ll have a cozy beer tasting, then learn how to make the best batter with beer and make your own waffles. After the hard work, you will be rewarded with homemade waffles and the chosen beer from the tasting. Could it get any better?
PS: Do you not drink alcohol or eat gluten? No panic, there are alcohol-free beers and gluten-free flour available. My gluten-intolerant heart is starting to beat a little faster!
House of Waffles
House of waffles is probably the most famous waffle restaurant in Bruges. It is located just next to the Torture museum in the Wollestraat. The owners of the Torture museum decided to start a waffle store in 2018. The connection between the two? No idea. strange connection? Yes, but they know waffles. Many Bruges residents swear that these are the best waffles. Secretly, I’m a big fan too!
Are you looking for a special waffle for lunch or breakfast? Then this is the place to be. Waffles with salmon, ham, cheese, and avocado are all specialties of this cozy place.

Fred’s
The story of Frederick Van Isacker starts in 1989. He started selling ice cream in Knokke under the name Australian Home Made Ice Cream. 30 years and a rebranding later, Fred’s is known throughout Europe. And we in Bruges are one of the lucky ones with a Fred’s on the Grote Markt, right in the middle of the city center. Frederik’s son opened the store in Bruges and now sells delicious waffles and no less than 36 different flavors of ice cream.

Lizzies wafles
To finish, we have Lizzie’s waffles. My personal all-time favorite waffles! Their waffles are described as XL waffles and let me tell you, these are the biggest waffles I have ever seen. You can find Lizzie’s in the Sint-Jakobsstraat and it is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 1 pm to 6 pm.
Ps: my favorite waffle is the one with strawberries. When it’s strawberry season, of course. Ready to gobble up the XL waffle?
