Frites atelier
Frites Atelier is not just any snack kiosk. This snack kiosk is owned by star chef Sergio Herman. This restaurant was a new challenge for the star chef. So he did research on different potatoes, soil types and other factors. After 18 months, they had found the right combination and Frites Atelier opened in 2018. Ghent is not the only establishment so Roosendaal, Brussels, Antwerp and The Hague also have their Frites Atelier.
Het pakhuis
Before you enter Ghent between the towers you will find the authentic restaurant “het pakhuis”. In 1991 this brasserie opened in this unique building. As soon as you enter this building you are overwhelmed by the size of the room, 600m² and a second floor. The Portuguese architect Pinto has done his job well!
Eat love
Eat Love began as a regular pizzeria in 2009. But not just any ordinary pizzeria! The owners of this business wanted all materials to be local and organic. After searching for local farmers, they started a whole new kind of pizzeria, all organic and local. Outside of the pizzeria, they have an aperitivo bar since December.
Do you eat gluten free but still want to enjoy these delicious pizzas? Good news, Eat Love has gluten-free options!
Uncle babe's
Uncle babe’s burger bar is Ghent’s burger haven. For the juiciest burgers you have to be at Uncle Babe’s Burger Bar on the Sluizeken. The new American neighbor of Simon Says and Villa Bardon makes everything himself. Burgers, ketchup, crispy onion rings and fries.
The interior is completely trendy with a wooden ceiling, a golden wall and nice modern elements like the hanging light bulbs with a copper glow. The dishes are served in retro enamelware.
Balls & Glory
The place for balls and real “belgische stoemp”. in short, grandmother’s kitchen on your plate! On the Balls & Glory menu: oven-baked meat from their own farm with surprising fillings, a bit of nostalgia in a contemporary jacket. Wim Ballieu has branches throughout Belgium. In Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven, Mechelen, Sint-Niklaas and Ronse.
Keizershof
This cozy brasserie on the Friday market is a true classic in Ghent. It takes some searching on the large Vrijdagsmarkt (narrow facade). But there is plenty of room: there are 4 rooms (downstairs inside, upstairs inside and a nice terrace at the back and front). The tables are well laid and there are candles on the table. Always cozy. For 40 years, this friendly family business has been a household name in Ghent. The two sons continue the tradition with verve, resulting in a traditional cuisine with a natural atmosphere in a historic setting.
